## Learning and mentorship

The project taught newcomers photography and visual narration. Participants reflected on resilience, democracy, and gender equality. U Shine Movement provided continuing mentorship to all participants.

## First cohort

The first cohort had 10 participants, who became trainers after completing certification. The first cohort trained 60 newcomers in Winter 2021. They trained 60 other youths in photography for six weeks in Winter 2021.

## Project aims

The project was intended to benefit 70 refugees and immigrants in Ottawa from 2021 to 2022. The project aimed to reach 325 Ottawa-region community members for a photography exhibit in 2021. Exhibit presentations elsewhere in the country through French Alliances were planned starting in August 2021.
